That is good to know however, we still deal with a lot of cases involving white asbestos which, whilst not as dangerous as the blue, should still not be moved unless by a specialist so I will be glad to see the back of it!

Hello there,The asbestos sheet could have contained 'blue' crocidalite asbestos if it is very old as this was added to 'mix' in the early days, The council should have taken a sample to test which type of asbestos was present.
They have a duty of care to remove whichever type is present and the land owner has to pay.
Either way you wont have to pay.
I'd cover with poly sheeting or simular and leave it to the experts to deal with.

Hope this helps,Phil.
It wont grow if you dont try.

Hello

That is very helpful and thank you for your advice.  That does seem to make several pieces of the jigsaw fit as I have had conflicting information however, when I explained the colour and texture of the pieces to colleagues, they advised it could be a mixture containing blue asbestos - I wasn't sure but you have clarified the point. Thank you for your help - much appreciated. :)
