Can't see a problem there, but strawberries are designed for the great outdoors, why not grow them there & something else in the greenhouse that needs it?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I'll echo what Dave says the strawberries will actually do better outside.  :)

Hi thanks folks for replies. I understand they are meant to be grown outside, but I once grew outside and when I took a bite of one there was a large slug inside(luckily it was a whole slug )so I thought they would be slug free if I grew a few in the greenhouse.

I found a snail yesterday in my greenhouse stuck on the side of the propagator, obviously likes a warm spot   ::)

Was thinking exactly the same.  Went in there this morning and one was happily chewing on my tomato plant  :mad:

You could try growing them in hanging baskets or pots well up off the ground and doing a nightly slug sweep by torchlight (usually gets them!) -- tinned strawberries are just not the same!!

Growing strawberries in pots with a good layer of gravel over the compost seemed to work for me last year - they seemed to get no slugs at all, while the spare couple of plants I put in the flower bed got munched to pieces.  It's wise to check over the strawberries before you bite into them, all the same, though!

I've got my strawberries outside they are covered in straw but I was sure to put a good sprinkle of the bad boy blue slug pellets down first.

I like to think that I'm organic but I fall short when it comes to slugs & snails.  Armed response is the best response.

I wanted to grow some in hanging baskets but they've all been commandeered for cherry tomatoes this year.

I grew mine last year in a big terracotta pot that I then stood in a very shallow tray which I made sure was always filled with water.  It's only 5mm or so deep so doesn't make the soil in the pot waterlogged, but keeps the slugs and snails at bay because, as far as I know, they haven't learnt to swim nor do they have mini canoes!!

 :tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2: to the slimy bu&&ers  :happy:
