so been out on the plot today
we have all we need for our festive feast - parsnips , potatoes , sprouts , red cabbage , carrots , onions , garlic and leeks
only couldn't manage to pick a turkey !!!!! LOL ( paid £8 from Lidl )
so less than £ 1 per person ( feeling chuffed )

Well done!

What a great feeling :)

Feels great doesn't it, barley? Well done you :D
Kind of spurs you on for next year too ;)

That's fantastic.
I wonder how many of us will say the same for ourselves, next year? Who's up for it?

Great stuff Barley. I will have home grown fresh onions and sprouts. Home grown frozen French beans and carrots. My turkey crown cost a bit more though! 😃

We've done pretty well too. OH is having goose breast home reared (there is a cost, but not much) and I am having nut roast from our own walnuts and beans, onions, garlic eggs, herbs and breadcrumbs which would have gone to the chooks if I hadn't used them. Sprouts, parsnips and cauli (two brassicas, but the caulis need using) Stuffing, bread sauce, apple sauce, medlar jelly, bought potatoes (£2.00 10kg). Trifle with home grown raspberries and egg custard, and Christmas pud sent out from a friend.
No idea how much in flour and milk and raising the goose. But not bad. Booze donated by the neighbours.

I couldn't either, I will stick to my nuts. It will be a first for OH too. He didn't mind 'doing the deed' but got rid of the rest of them as he didn't think he could do a good enough job of preparing them for sale. They are now pets! Lucky geese
