Well the stumps are out along with the turf, and we've started to remove the top soil. Here are a few photos.

rhosfawr, what type of gorilla tape did you use, and how much? There are a few different widths/lengths available so I'm not sure which to get.

No farmer today, but I got a few more photos.

That's taking shape. He'd make short shrift of the winter digging wouldn't he

Never mind the winter digging, I'm thinking of asking him if he will finish the beds that I'm trying to get dug for this season

He's left the digger here too, so perhaps if he's not here tomorrow (if he's left the key somewhere in the cab) I might have a go myself

Our farmer turned up today and finished leveling off the site, but I forgot to ask him to spread some of the top soil down along the sides of the site outside the tunnel footprint (we leveled off an extra 6 feet on either side), but now I'm thinking it would be a better idea to worry about that later - I can always go around the sides with a wheelbarrow and put down a couple of inches of sandy top soil and sow with lawn seed.

My main worry though is that because it's more or less flat clay subsoil, that water will start to pool if it rains hard. I don't suppose anyone has ideas for precautionary measures we could take to stop this from happening?
