Title: Where can I buy some compost? :(
Post by: Spudsey on April 01, 2020, 12:46
Hello everyone, I hope you are all keeping well.

I haven't stockpiled anything, just been doing a normal weekly shop, however upon not being able to find any bread flour for weeks, or antibacterial surface wipes and dettol for my elderly mother-in-law, admittedly I started getting concerned about the lack of compost!

So after trawling internet for ages last night I discovered Wickes were selling the New Horizon peat free vegetable compost for a reasonable price so set upon ordering some.

However other half (upon hearing that I would have to pay postage) thought it would be a great idea to notify other members of our allotment society to see if they too wanted some compost, setting a deadline of midday today to let me know.

After queuing on the Wickes website I find that they are now sold out!!!!!

I am so cross at the moment, other half may not get his lunch today!!!

Has anyone got any ideas?  I want PEAT FREE :)

Thank you!

Babes, just calm down and think of how we're all trying to get out of this pandemic. Just re-use whatever you have available and am sure things will work out for you in the end.

Hi Goosegirl
I'm calm! :) Just cross that I had my eye on some compost and now I haven't!
Fed the other half as well :)

B&M if you have one locally plenty of choice (may not be peat free but in these times) and you can do your essential shopping at the same time.

It may be worth contacting your local garden centre.  Mine are closed to the public but are providing a delivery service to keep themselves going (and I'm happy to support them if it will keep them in business).  :)
