Double glazed panes ??
« on: June 18, 2007, 16:49 »
From skip, picked up load of new double glazed panes, that were to go into wooden frames, so have glass, silver inner beading, and black tape around the edges.  I can't work out how to make cold frames - or can I just sit them on top of small brick walls of same size, and then just lift a corner to water ?  Suggestions appreciated.

Lucky you!

Simple matter to make a wooden frame slightly smaller so that they just sit on top.  Keep it pretty shallow - maybe 10 - 12" depending what you plan to grow.

So, wooden rectangle some 10-12" deep (high) and then sit ontop, but over-hanging.  I have loads of old house-bricks, so make myself raised compost / manure beds with these (no mortar), so guess will do the same for these too ! Thanks.

Should work fine.  If you plan it out, you can share each 'wall' between two frames so that you use less bricks

Thank you for pointing out this heinous and reprehensible grammatical error.  Should I go back through the other 5572 posts, or have you already checked them?

Double glazed panes ??

My friend and I now have (almost) broken backs from aquiring several double glazed units that were due to go into the council skip tomorrow, thought we might as well have them before the local yobs smash them up!

Any advice on where to aquire used or unused back braces please???
I know less today than I did yesterday, and I knew nothing then!
