Christmas tree leaf mold/mulch
« on: January 02, 2014, 18:37 »
Hi
I usually mulch most of my general garden waste with my garden shredder and bag it up to turn to leaf mold to chuck down on the plot after the autumn digging over. Was going to do this with my Christmas tree this year but is pine too acidic for most soil types?

I have a quite sandy soil so ph is low anyway?

Thanks
G x

Conifer mulches are recommended to use for blueberries etc that like acidic soils.

Tbh, if it is mixed in with other compostables, it would not alster the pH of soil that much .. it takes a great deal to make soil more acidic

Careful with that juperwort. I did just that and ended up with a right mess. Melted lights and shiny broken glass everywhere !  ;-)
