Where are you too- just wondering because I know the difference between North and South is about 2-3 weeks, so what is flowering for me now, may not for you.
My Tulips are all gone by May!
But I have a wonderful couple of Carnations flowering now.
Very often quite lost- would be more lost if I could work out where I was!- But always find my way home.....

a lot of the spring folowering bulbs are coming in to their own just now (in Glasgow).  Our alliums are just starting to come out and a lot of the iris are in bud and won't be too long before they are open.

I'm in North Wales,I've still got a few tulips hanging on.It's the longest i've ever seen them flower for.I think it must be the dry weather weve had

My chive flowers are looking lovely.

So can i cut them and bring them home then? something ive never thought of doing with my chive flowers.

Im actually trying to make more of an effort with flowers for cutting , fruit and veg im doing well but flowers still a bit of a mystery to me.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

You could try it MW, I'm not sure they'd last too long as cut flowers as a more sturdy allium would do. I prefer to look at the chive flowers (and most others TBH) in situ in the garden and of course you can always eat the chive flowers in salad too. :)

You can get a 'giant chive' which would be better as a cut flower.

There is also Lily of the Valley in flower now.

tail end of the wallflowers, yellow poppy meconopsis, dicentra, bluebell cultivars seem to have been out ofr much longer than usual this year.

with a nice bit of foliage dragged from the astilbes and flowering may branches from the hawthorn

I've never had much luck with alliums apart from chives. They do well for a year and then they seem to fade away quickly.Maybe it's too moist here and they just rot?

Its interesting hearing what is flowering in different peoples gardens.

My Tulips are long gone, the Lily of the Valley has finished and I am in a quiet spell before all the bedding gets going, just the Carnations and the end of the bluebells at the moment, have had a few poppies, and a geranium is revving up for its main show.
Had let a Purple kale from last year flower for a bit as the yellow flowers on this looked good against the purples foliage!

Yes this thread has been very intresting , i think we should have a dedicated cut flower section on the site, or have i just missed it?

The flower drought is over.My aquilegia have flowered as has bistort and variegated weigelia.Lady's mantle has just started to flower which I always have mixed feelings about.I love their acidy green colour but I then forget to deadhead a couple of them and they seed everywhere.I think my sweet william will be open in a week as well if the weather warms up a bit ::).I've got the two fires going in my little cottage this evening ,it's really cold.Roll on flaming june.

I have a patch on the plot with dutch iris; the bulbs are cheap, the spread well and are great cut flowers. Also different colours have slightly different flowering times; my white ones are over (M-L april), blue at their best and golden just starting.
