knee pads
« on: June 18, 2014, 09:00 »
I seem to spend an extraordinary amount of time on my knees on the allotment.  I do have knee pads but I am constantly adjusting them as they seem to spend their time around my shins rather than my knees.  Does anyone have some that stay put on your knees, are comfortable and a reasonable price?

I just use a foam kneeler, moving it as I go.

I did try some strap-on kneeling pads which were uncomfortable when done up tight enough to stay in position, so I too now use an old foam sofa cushion (I did try strapping it to my legs so it went wherever I did but it made me walk funny and I kept falling over.)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I must have one leg thinner than the other because my left one regularly slides down but not the right. ??? I tie knots in the elastic to get them to fit so they don't hurt and yet stay put.  I have only tried cheapies from poundshop, mind.

But it is more comfortable with a kneeling pad, I was given a memory foam one by middle son for my birthday last year, it is very luxurious and bright red so I can find it easily when I walk off and leave it.

I hate to say it but my seat turn it over kneeling pad with handled either side to lower and push myself up is a must these days

I have got a kneeling pad but I use it mainly weeding and it is such a FAFF to drag a pad, weed bucket and trowel about inch by inch as I work along the bed.

This is what my one is like, one way up it's a seat with storage the other way is a kneeling pad.

I got mine from Lidl for £4.99. Velco, but elastic could be added. Saves getting up each time, but I tend to alternate between knees and bum..so have a mat for that. :D

I use a cheap foam kneeler, as I get bored/ distracted easy and wander off to do another job.

You can get trousers with pockets over the knees for pads.  Perhaps if you are handy with the sowing machine you could make some!

I'd love a sowing machine. It'd save a lot of hard work getting those seeds in!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
