Our courgettes have been pretty minimal too - probably just as well with courgettes

Our courgettes have done really well this year - last year, I had about 2 weedy ones.  Two large butternuts - the dog destroyed the third.  The soil was horribly poor when we arrived 18 months ago, and last year we barely had anything off the veg patch, but having manured intensively in the autumn and spring, we've seen a difference this year.  Hoping for even better things next year.
