Thanks, am in the process of 'sorting out' my pots.  They will get a mix of new and rejuvenated compost.

Luckily enough, being tardy gardeners, we have not distributed our spent compost from last year’s tomatoes and cucumbers onto the flower beds. I have a big box of slow release pellets, so job done - well planned anyway.

And any pathogens built up in the compost will be specific to the previous crop - like crop rotation, really.
