As you may recall, my new Eden greenhouse lasted just 4 days before it was destroyed in a storm at the end of April. Well the replacement has arrived.

Good morning John,
could you not gather enough ally extrusions and glass from your old greenhouse to graft onto your new one?  In the snap it looks as though all is not lost and a larger greenhouse is always wanted.

Not a bad idea - but many of the pieces are more damaged than appears at first glance and it has to resist the blessed winds here.

Hello I don't know if you have heard of LBS Horicultural supplies they do a very good wind break material that is very affective  the bar caps are better than W clips our old commercial green houses were all bar capped glazing they stood the 1989 hurricanes we lost 1 pane and that was only be cause we forgot to fasten the vent down it lifted and dropped

I did think of just putting up posts with windbreak material but it's right to the front  and visible from the road so wanted something that looked a bit better - hence palisade fencing.

John, I've replied via the other site, but am glad you can just build a windbreak to soften the blow!

I've never realised that the North-West Wales coast was so vulnerable, but that's because I've never been there!

Well the winds come in from the Atlantic, give Ireland a bit of a bashing and then onto us. And because we're 600 feet up the hill, it hits with much more force than down at sea level. Bit like being on a tall building, there's a real breeze even on a calm day. When the winds get across the mountains to England they've calmed down.
It's also one of the wettest places... we've even got a rainforest!

On the plus side, it's beautiful and majestic. Pace of life is slower than most places too - which is nice.

In my youth we used to ride, in February    to Conwy for the Dragon Motorcycle Rally. Heavy rain, or snowmelt, tended to turn the rivers and waterfalls into something magical, but made route planning nearly impossible 
I have to admit that I've never been to that part of Wales in the Summer, but reckon if it's good to look at in Feb it must be stunning in summer.

Some places are best in summer but there are amazing views all year round

We knew intellectually about it being wet but didn't realise about the winds - but much of the problem is being up where we are and exposed. The night the Eden blew down it was bad at my daughters which is 85 metres lower but you could feel the car shaking more in the wind as it climbed up the hill to home.
