Thai Morning Glory
« on: May 17, 2011, 09:48 »
The wife has been trying to grow this in the greenhouse and it's come along quite well but seems to have slowed almost to a stop recently.

Some are about 2-3 inches tall, but some smaller ones look almost a little dry, maybe with a little brown on some leaves (they are kept plenty moist).

Would they benefit from some plant food? Natively they grow in warm/moist conditions, almost like weeds in some countries.

Funnily I have the same problem with my morning glory started off well but in the last few weeks plants have slowed right down in growth, and some outer leaves have turned yellow and brown.
I put it down to the weather suddenly turning cooler here in cornwall.
I have fed mine with a liquid organic seaweed fertilizer.
if you want to be happy for a short time, get drunk; happy for a long time, fall in love; happy for ever, take up gardening

Have you noticed any improvement since using the fertilizer?

I keep trying to persuade my wife but she  is still quite insistent that they be totally "organic"  :nowink:

I had to Google it to make sure it was something you could eat!  ::)

Whilst doing that I found it can be made into a vegetarian dish called "pad pak bung fai daeng."

Almost worth growing it just for that!  ::)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

We got our seeds from China (where my wife is from), a bit naughty I know . You can buy the plants from our local asian supermarket as well, quite easy to cook and rather tastey.
