5 prong arrow head cultivator
« on: March 12, 2007, 21:14 »
Hi all,

I am looking for a 5 prong arrow head cultivator. My Grandfather had one and it was a good piece of kit. I don't know who made it or where it came from but it was painted orange.
If anyone has any info on these or any ideas on where I could get one from or the possible manufacturer it would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

Matt.

You can get 3-prong cultivators easily. 5-prong ones - the human hand?
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

i have seen one with 10 or 8 tines and they all can be removed with a wing nut.so you could adjust it to whatever size you liked.it was rather old but brilliant
feed the soil not the plants
organicish

Hey Saulty,
I 've just bought one of those "vintage five pronged   culltivators/scuffles ", from Ebay.My heavy clay soil turned into bricks after it had been dug over and a kind 60yrs young plotty neighbour lent me one ,(that used to belong to his dad.)It did the job in a couple of hours. The prong are removable with a nut.It cost me £15 without the handle..it was just what I need for that type of soil. I bet there's sure to be another on Ebay soon enough..Good luck,

I too love some of those vintage tools like the three pronged pitch fork.  I also bought a great onion hoe with a swan neck handle. I really , really wanted a  reel row marker, blacksmith made but got outbid. I will pay what they ask but I'm not into bidding up the odds.

Thanks for the replies.

At least I know another name for it as well! Might help speed up the search.
