My ground is still warmish despite the date and certainly not frozen

If you have them then go for it - they'll only die, anyway, if you leave them in the bag  ;)

Worth a punt if you see them cheap, as well.

Thanks to you both. That answers the other question which is whether saving them to plant next year will work.

You can't save them - they'll rot  :(

Phew- glad to hear I can still pop the rest in the ground
Have planted most, but then realised I still had some more to go in!
just ran out of time!
Very often quite lost- would be more lost if I could work out where I was!- But always find my way home.....

I planted bulbs as late as Dec 26th in my climate. The year I did that, a horrid winter storm moved in next day so I was glad I got it done.

Well due to a number of reasons- rain and illness being 2 of them, the last of my bulbs only went in today

The final theory was they will die if left in the garage, and if they are in the ground they have a chance- fingers crossed, and even if only half come up thats better than none. ::)

Note to self, while bumper packs of bulbs seem a great idea, its not so great crawling around planting the ruddy things!

Just thought I would update on my late planted daffs and narcissus

Having been planted on 12th Jan I have had most come up, they are not far behind the ones that went in on time, BUT and the big difference is they are MUCH shorter

In that I now have some 3 inch high narcissus!
They do look very cute! :nowink:

The tulips are sill working on things and also look like they will be shorter than normal

Most did come up, other than the last 2 packs I planted, but these were the less healthy looking bulbs so think they rotted out

Next winter I will be more organised! ::)

Thanks for the update - nice to know it worked  :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

They are all now going from strength to strength, it's quite nice really, everyone else's are going over, mine are coming into their own now.
I am guessing that next year they will be back to normal timing. There are a few that are only 3 inch tall leaves at the mo, but this is a dark bit of our front garden, will keep an eye on them!

 :D
