I know that to save pea seed i should leave them on the plant to dry, but i have picked a load of still green pods could i still use these for seed?. only a couple are starting to change colour

It is unlikely that any fully green pods will be mature enough to dry for seed. You'd probably be OK with those that are turning.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
