Title: cant peel my hard boiled eggs
Post by: needssomehelp on April 27, 2011, 17:16
i cant seem to get the shell off of my hard boiled eggs, i have left them in the water to go cold, i have tried to peel them straight after they have been boiled, but the shell comes off in tiny pieces and often takes the egg with it. any ideas???

Your eggs may be too fresh!  Use older eggs for hard boiling and this should solve the problem.  I keep some to one side for salads.  Hope this works for you.

Fresh eggs are impossible to peel, so definitely leave at least a week.

I learn the hard way too. When I first did it I had a yolk with a small amount of white around it and that's all that was left!

When I have that problem I cut the egg in half with a sharp knife (shell on).  I then scoop the egg half out with a teaspoon. :)
