Title: Fuel
Post by: richyrich7 on March 21, 2007, 09:36
Since the demise of leaded petrol and now the loss of LRP, what type of fuel is it ok to use in older engines? will simply dropping lead balls into the tank a of unleaded really work?
Sounds daft but I don't want to ruin my B&S engine.

Surely not!!   If anything, put a few in a 5 litre container that you can shake around (filter before pouring).   Can't see even this doing much good though.   Await expert replies.

I have a car which requires leaded petrol.  I use unleaded and an additive called: Valvemaster (http://www.triumphshop.co.uk/Quiller/Unleaded/valvemaster.htm)

Hope that helps you  :D

the problem you get with using unleaded in "leaded" engines is valve seat recession. no valves... no valve seat recession.

there are quite a few aftermarket lead supplement additives about.  try Halfrauds or local motor shops/garages
