Clematis Wilt
« on: May 12, 2013, 14:14 »
Hi guys and gals. Anyone able to advise if this looks like clematis wilt on my young Dr Ruppel and if so how I can best treat it? It's only just over a year old and was overwintered.

Clematis wilt is when the entire plant suddenly collapses (from memory they get the equivalent of an air-lock in the sap stream.)

Yours looks quite strong and healthy, so it's not that, but I don't know what's causing the lesions on the leaves (I've got about 5 in my garden and I must admit I never look at them that closely - they're pretty resilient plants though.)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Look's like Clematis leaf spot, a fungal disease. Treat with a fungal spray and try to keep the water off the leaves when you water the plant in future.
