hi,

I dunno if these are white flies as opposed to whitefly - I thought the latter were slow moving and went for things like roses... but when i watered my purple sprouting yesterday (which seems to be doing well) all these little white flies jumped up.

What are they, and should i worry? I saw a similar thing on oregano - they were otherwise unaffected.

I see a white mosaic in one of the leaves - I'll post a photo later. in the meantime, any guesses?

cheers

Ditto or get one of them fancy whitefly board things that are sticky you waft it about as you disturb them

You get their sticky secretions over the plants and they don't look too good when you cook the brussels & see them floating.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Are they not also sapsuckers and so weaken the plants?  See http://www.chat.allotment-garden.org/viewtopic.php?p=87647#87647

Hello.... I have used the search option (are you proud WG?) and found this tread, sounds exactly what I have on my sprouting broccoli. We have had rain for a few days, will this be enough to 'drown the beggers' ? or do I need to do a mist as well? or spray with washing up liquid??
Is derris any good?

Good on ya for searching - means you found loads of answers right away!

Derris is non-selective so kills all the good guys too.  Go with the spray / washing-up liquid since I'm sure nature has adapted them to cope with rain.
