Today I found at least half of my sweetcorn cobs, which are nearly ripe, had been stripped of their leaves and most of the kernels eaten. I thought it was prob birds so have netted the remainder. What does everyone else think?

I'm of the opinion, that birds, mice and rats do not strip leaves. Quite the contrary, they eat them. The last two, certainly.

Who is peeling, husking, etc. is either squirrel or badger. More like the first...
The leaves are no where in sight, just the bare cobs are there. There is no damage from trampling on the plants or any foot prints

It is rats that eat sweet corn on our site.

People are putting  plastic pop bottles with the bottom cut off over the cobs  to stop them

Have been worried all week since reading this thread, but harvested 22 cobs today - all good apart from one with partial pollination. That makes 29 cobs from an initial 32 plants so far, with a few more to go.
