Truly sorry about Beano's loss; its a terrible tear to the heart. Been there a few times so know what you're going through.

Sheena is an absolute love; what a sweet, adorable face. Just don't understand why people mistreat animals.

I'm new to the forums (see post in intro section) and another member suggested I post a couple of pics of my non-feathered friends here. Looking forward to getting to know everyone...

This is Mookie (2 and a half years) and Truffle who is 18 months - both black mini schnauzers.

They're both very smart but chalk and cheese in character. I BARF them, so am hoping this doesn't affect how 'friendly' they might be with live chickens when they arrive.. *gulp*

lovely dogs, a friend of mine has two miniature schnauzers too - one is just a little puppy of about 10 weeks. They are both salt and peppered coloured
Staffies are softer than you think.

Oooh - don't talk about puppies!! I'm handling that craving by going for productive pets... chickens! The mini is a very sociable/inquisitive dog so I'm fascinated to find out how my two cope with rosey feathery garden-mates  :tongue2:

keep them on a leash until you are sure, as I said in your other post my new rescue dog caught a cockerel the other day.

As you might know, we adopted a cat who turned out to be blind. Amber copes so well it took us 2 days to realise something was up and the first vet we went to didn't pick it up either!
Anyway, after she started going outside she vanished and went out of range of her radio collar (which we bought when we realised she was blind)
We were frantic and really upset. Searched everywhere, did leaflets etc all to no avail. Then after 6 days she just strolled in through the cat flap, let out a big miaow and settled down by the fire.
We were overjoyed and I think she was pleased to be home too :)

I used to think that keeping a blind cat alive was verging on the cruel, pandering to the owner rather than in the animal's best interest. Now I know I was wrong - Amber's quality of life is as good as any cat. Her super keen hearing and sense of smell give her a surprisingly good map of the world and her position in it. As I write she's running around the house playing chase with Luther kitten.

Here's Luther with Dexter - we could almost have a caption competition with this..
Luther "Will I be big and strong like you Dad?"
Dexter "Only if you stop wasting time chatting and concentrate on eating!"
