Been all round the pen again this morning still cannot see how a fox got in did see 2 buzzards over the bottom field though could they carry a hen off ?

I would be very surprised. If there was a pile of feathers then 95% its a fox. Take some photos may be of your run and post them on here. What may look fox proof to you may not be to us.
Do you poppies have a roof on your run? How high is the fence?
