As it says really, one of my (35 week old!) cream legbars has laid an egg for the last 2 days! My current flock consist of 2 cream legbars I've had since day olds, 1 pekin bantam & 1 silver spangled hamburg (think bantam) all around the same age. The egg is about half a medium size egg but it's only 1 legbar has a deep red comb. Haven't eaten them yet though, might save myself until Christmas day!!

Sprout lays small eggs too, considering the size she came from. She decided to join in a slight moult at 40 weeks old!!! Hoping she will start again soon as 2 others have just restarted.

Had my new girls since May - I'll go berserk when the frst egg pops along in the spring.

I have been buying these legbar eggs from Morrisons now for a while, they are delicious. I am going to start my chicken adventure this year and want a flock of legbars, any advice with this breed?

Hi, I bought mine as day olds as they are an autosexing breed & was lots of fun but they do poo a lot! In the end it worked out a bit cheaper buying day olds & an ecoglow brooder than buying them as POL.

I used a broody so knew I had 4 boys & 1 girl, who died within 24 hours. Able to home the boys though. Eggs are small compared to the eggs they hatched from (my hen is from BIL), hoping for bigger soon. she did moult a bit which is unusual in first year, so waiting for her to return to lay.
do not expect a daily egg.

Hi and Happy New Year,
These are great birds.  They are inquisitive and all of mine are easy to handle, although the two original hens my brother reared and the 4 younger girls I hatched last year from a male chick I reared  from some bought in eggs(so two mums and 4 daughters).  They are smashing looking hens and am hoping to hatch some more this year!!
I would certainly recommend these girls.
