You have extremely gorgeous girls there and Im jealous. It will be weeks until Im in a position to get some more chooks, as OH is poorly again. Any physical work could land him in hospital again. I so miss having chookies around, especially when I see piccies of everyones girls and boys.

Oh that's sad, Mary.  Sending you and your hubby best wishes for his recovery.  I recommend visiting neighbours' chickens as very good therapy!

Well PATIENCE really is becoming the word of the moment around here.  The company that makes the layer feed I've been using for the last couple of months has just done a massive recall.  All their feeds have been contaminated with lasalocid, which means I can't eat a single egg from my flock!

I have to throw away every egg I get for at least the next 14 days (preferably 21 days).

I can't eat a single one of Patience's beautiful eggs!  :(

well as you stated she just came into lay and her first egg she broke on the ground so not too many to chuck away. Better safe than sorry.

That's annoying Lindeggs, here's hoping you don't have to throw away too many eggs :(

The company has said to return any part-bags and they will replace it with a new full bag. So that's something.  But I'm very unhappy with the way they have carried out the recall and was intending to switch away from their food anyway for a variety of reasons.  This latest episode has just confirmed it.

Patience is still my only one laying, so after willing everyone to start laying I will now have to change to "don't start yet!"  I would be sad if I had to throw away everyone's first egg and never got a chance to try one!

Mind you, I'm still going to crack them open just so I can admire the lovely orange yolks that I'm sure are in there.  :)
