I have 6 plants, could be runner or climbing french (I'd guess runner), growing in last years plot. Good healthy plants-will report progress re actual crops.  On transplanting them to this years plot find they are growing from last years roots-we live on the pennines so cold winters, short seasons etc-in 15 yrs on allotment never known this happen-always grow beans, always cut off tops and leave in roots.  Global warming???
