What size pot do reckon should be used for cucumber and could you grow peas in a trough (about 8 inches deep)?
Total beginner - please bear with me if I ask daft questions!!

Cucumber - maybe a 12 inch pot.  Keeping it wet enough will be the challenge.

Peas - sounds ok to me

They reckon (B&Q) that you can put 2 cucumber plants in a grow bag, so that might give you some idea. I would have thought the peas would be OK in a trough but I'm a rubbish pea-grower.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Peas no problem in 8" I've grown them in less than 6" of soil in a raised bed on a concrete base, water well. Biggest problem I get with peas is mildew.
