Manure how much
« on: December 30, 2020, 21:44 »
I am getting delivery of about 3 cubic metre manure tomorrow.
Can someone enlighten how thick I should spread
Do you block spread  regardless of where your plant lines are gonna be or  trench spread with future plant lines planned?
I know 3 bags sounds lot and actual spread. I really don’t know how much area it can cover.
Help please
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

I add any i can get to cover whole beds, even if that meant spreading it thinly, the only place I've ever added it in lines was in trenches dug for the beans.

Thanks all. Will do a thin block where spuds going.

Trying something new this year.
Created mound line and covered with large membrane. Undug area.
Come May I will slit and plant large squash or pumpkins there.
Next year spuds will go there. Hope it works.

Hello if your trench digging spread a muck fork to half a yard run of trench about an inch thick or if putting on the surface a couple of fork fulls to a square yard,be careful if you ask a farmer for a forkful,my grandad asked a local farmer if I could pop round for a fork full the farmer brought it   7tons in one load   jezza

Its my opinion you can never get enough horse manure we spread ours over the plots and let the worms do the business the fresh manure we stack for around twelve months before using

we never spread the horse poo where we intend to sow parsnips or other root crops but that's just me just one word of warning ask the farmer or where your getting it from or who supplies hay if its been sprayed with any weed killers as this could be harmful to you plants and you will need to store it for twelve months

hope this advise helps good luck with the growing season
