howdo
planning to put carrots in this year and i was told that they needed snady soil. If this is the case i was going to plant them seperate in an old bath tub i have. Good or bad idea, please give feed back as i want them to grow

I've grown ball-shaped carrots in multipurpose compost so I don't think that carrots need sandy soil. What sort of soil do you have otherwise? They do need something fairly loose and rich in organic matter but not freshly manured.
wistfully hoping to one day be mostly organic gardener in North London.
