tatties for tea
« on: June 16, 2009, 17:21 »
I furtled this morning and pulled a nice size Vale Emerald 1st early out of one of my tubs so decided to go for it and pull the whole tub...then another tub ....and another. Heres the result.

Some are quite small but  i reckon I'll get a good 3 meals out of 3 tubs. Ive 6 tubs left of vales so will be leaving them another couple of weeks. So tatties are in the steamer as I type and should go a treat with the lamb chops in the oven...yum yum.
R.I.P Bobby Smiler Smith......love you always little fella.

I also couldn't resist a furtle this morning - but couldn't wait for tea - just ate the ones I found raw. Still wonderful and a promise of things to come (if they ever make it to the pan) :tongue2:

I agree the first potatoes of the season are pleasure to be savoured. Worthy of eating on their own and not just something to soak up the gravy

I always think it's worth lifting some early even if on the small size - pigeon to pullet egg size rather than hens egg size - otherwise by the time you get to the end of the row they are past the best.

dug up three plants today, had some with lemon and honey chicken.  had corn on the cob too, can't wait for mine to be ready as i can still taste last years and the supermarket ones are just not as good.
