wormery compost use
« on: November 17, 2014, 23:33 »
What's the best way to use a whole large bin of wormery compost? It's great stuff and I've been using the wee over the summer and autumn to great effect. However, I wantto make best use of the compost . I have a small garden where I grow some salad and flowers, and a full sized allotment in need of some tlc. I had thought of using it in containers, mixed with top soil to grow some nice carrots??

I remember reading some horticultural university paper that no more than 10% is needed for most effective use. They tested it on wheat crops and generalisation from that to other plants.

I make a tea out of it first and then spread the castings/detritus onto the garden.

Cheap as chips, diy preferred
Will swap root cuttings etc
