Chicken hormones can get mixed up as with all animals.
Does it have an interest in hairdressing. :)

Hi

I have the same problem!!! we were given a cockerel he is about 18 months old, but does not crow, and hides in the Hen house!!! we have had him for about six weeks now and I dont think he has done the deed yet with my four ladies. We keep our ladies up at our allotment and we spend a good few hours up there each week, and I have never heard him crow and he is always in the hen house with one of our ladies who is broody!!

I really think mine is into hairdressing!!!

Jackie

i started to worry he may be ill as he does not act like any cockerell i have ever owned, he is a lovely bird though follows you in the house to see what treats are about and sits on the outside of kitchern window when i am cooking watching me, he is a strange bird but i am glad you have a boy the same so he is probably fine just different, lol

One of my boys Chuck berry, has just started crowing today - he was hatched around Easter time - he lived at Grannie Annies for a few weeks where he crowed quite happily but then came back home to me and stopped. Today though after I dispatched an aggressive cockerel he obviously felt safe enough to test out his vocal chords and is now crowing away quite happily  :). My other little boy (called beeper as he follows me around beeping) still hasn't crowed  :(
Staffies are softer than you think.
