Title: Moth visitor
Post by: Elaine G on August 05, 2018, 17:48
This fella spent the night in the hall and is still there!
Any idea what it is please, I can’t identify it from my book, but it is quite big, measuring about 4cm along the body. Will try to make sure it has left before I shut the door tonight  :)

Possibly an Orange Underwing, but you'd need to get it to fly to find out!

When it comes to bedtime, I turn all the lights off in the house,  open the front door and the security light comes on, and in a few minutes they fly out to the light.  But why do they come out at night in the dark - and then go for light ?  That's a handsome fella you've got there.  Mrs Bouquet

Ha ha so he escaped while we were having dinner so I didn't get to see what he looked like underneath!
At least he spent the day in the shade.

I like your idea with the lights mrs bouquet, will give that a go tonight as there is always a collection by the back door

Maybe they sleep during the day?
