I grow mine in containers.  I use compost and sand mixed together.  You get straight carrots with this method.

Do you put netting over your pots?

growing mine in an old garden frame filled with mixture of soil compost and ash from the garden fire.  Worked well last year.

I grow some of my carrots in tubs or trug buckets i think there called.
I have compost and a bit of sand and top soil mixed in with them and it works a treat. i grew mine on in paper pots first to start them of and just let them be and grow no netting or anything

Try the stump rooted varieties as well. They obviously don't need quite the depth as the long rooted types.

I used to grow them in quite small pots before I had my veggie patch and they always did fine, I'm rubbish at pricking out so they were always small salad carrots.

Does everyone buy new carrot seeds every year? As i only have a very small garden, so i dont get chance to use all the seeds in one year. Should i throw the old ones away and start a fresh or try the old ones?
