Wine buddy...
« on: September 18, 2013, 11:35 »
We bought a 5 gal Chardonnay kit from Tesco and made it on 8th September.

It fermented out to dry in 6 days, and after 3-stage fining over three hours, and 24 hours to settle to perfect brightness, we had a glass last evening, 17th September!

This must be a record, and although at £22.50 plus 4 kg sugar, it's not cheap, it must also be a bargain at way under a pound a bottle, and it tastes pretty damn good too! (Better than some of their £4.50 bottles at least)!

The Home Brew Shop online does sell it a little cheaper, but to be able to grab a kit off a shelf and be drinking it in 9 days is something new!

Anyone else tried the Sauvignon Blanc, because that's next?

Woah that's quick growster!  Now I'm thinking a swift wine kit would be a good idea for a drink to keep me going until my fruit wines have cleared and matured.  Not a fan of whites so can't help you with your Sauvignon Blanc but hope it works out as well!

Well done that man...  our local Tesco's don't have a kit section so we don't get them.

Exactly what we're up to, Damoot, as we have some blackberry chugging away somewhere!

That on-line shop is pretty fast, Cap!

I'll pm you the online people we bought from recently, they're great!

Well worth a slurp, Moggie!

They probably sell it in the Maidstone Wine centre, up behind the prison in Hardy Street but you'd have to collect it from them!
