I planted a silver birch tree this year, it's a couple of feet high. Having found out that it's a great hayfever trigger (which i have, get me being into gardening) so what should i replace it with?
Hit me with your suggestions please. I would especially like suggestions of fruit trees, if any are suitible for gardens.

You can get self-fertile fruit trees (cherry, plum, etc) on a dwarfing rootstock which will grow to about 6ft-8ft high and about 3 or 4ft across.
You could even go for the mini patio ones (apples,pears,etc). About 4ft tall and as wide as the pot!
Or you go up from there. Depends what you like and how big you want it to be. :)

How about a nut tree? Walnuts get a bit big but hazelnut trees don't. Mind you if you have a squirrel problem you do have to pick them early.

[Aunty sings]
I HAD a little nut tree, nothing would it bear
But a silver nutmeg and a golden pear ;
The king of Spain's daughter came to visit me,
And all was because of my little nut tree.
I skipp'd over water, I danced over sea,
And all the birds in the air couldn't catch me.

You lot are nutty, never mind the tree. I wouldn't like a nut tree anyway, i only like walnuts and almonds. I have a horse chestnut tree growing from a nut in a pot... i wonder should i tend to that or give it away.
I like the idea of self-fertile fruit trees. I'll have to look into those. Could you suggest any particular 'trees'?
