onion failure

Hi All, first post.......
so i was wondering if some advice was available.
for past 3 seasons my onions have failed, the sets get away fine ,but then the necks keel over long before time and out skins start to rot.
any ideas?

Sounds like they're getting too much water/moisture. They need some but not a lot. Have you tried growing them in raised mounds so there's better drainage? And if you're in an area that gets lots of rain, put up shelters for them to divert excess rain.

Just remembered that parts of the UK have been having onion rot fungus killing off their crops. Ask neighbours to see if they have the same problem.

Another problem is that onions are heavy feeders and most people tend to feed them lightly. Throw in lots of compost and old manure into the onion row as well as raising it for better drainage and see if you do better this year.

What you can also do is ask your neighbours what they do to get their monsters.
