Title: Will my Potatoes survive being nibbled?
Post by: JimS on April 17, 2009, 22:59
I noticed today that my first ever planting of 'Early's' have started to come through. Only problem is that something, probably rabbits, have nibbled the leaves off, leaving just a stem.

My question is, will they still grow ok or should I replant?

Thanks in advance

Jim

I'd leave them be Jim, the foliage should grow back - but would definitely protect them, either by earthing up well or a covering of fleece/netting  ;)

OK, thanks for that.

Nice to know I can take a rest from planting  :)

Potato leaves are toxic even to rabbits.
Maybe some young ones tried them, not believing mum when she said they're not good to eat.  :nowink:  :tongue2:
