How to lobby the council re chickens
« on: June 05, 2007, 00:00 »
From our allotment contract it seems we are not allowed to keep animals on the allotments, there are no chickens on our site.  I would love a few hens but don't really know how to go about approaching the local council.  Any tips or stories of success would be greatly appreciated.

How to lobby the council re chickens

Hi there, the only thing I could suggest to you is find out who is incharge of the allotment site, (the guy who makes the decisions), and write him a letter outlining what you would like and how you would go about it.  Is there any other livestock at your site?? e.g. pidgeons? If they are there then I see no reason why the council shouldnt allow chickens! I'm affraid it all boils down to what the council decides for you..... The best of luck to you though, I hope it all works out fine! Dont expect replies to come right away unless it's a NO...
