just wondering does anyone know if its possible to grow sweetcorn from the tinned stuff?
-
I doubt it, it tends to be cut from the cob.
-
and it's been cooked
-
...and it's probably an F1 that won't grow true
-
mumofstig - I once threw some pressure cooked leftover chickpeas onto the compost heap and they sprouted! So presumably cooking doesn't always kill seeds.

I stand corrected............I know that some seed is programmed to germinate after forest fires,
but... would have thought that the cooking process and then being in water/salt in an airtight tin would have put paid to any signs of life
-
Most of my cooking in general could put paid to signs of life!

mumofstig,
I quite agree with you, I cannot possibly see canned corn sprouting for all fo the reasons that I mentioned, but I thought that I'd just throw in my chickpea story as a get out in case anything actually happens!
