The girls are now all fully laying but what I have noticed is a few eggs coming from one of them that are the normal looking brown but look like they have been dipped in a very weak solution of white wash,anyone got any theories/clues on this one

It's just calcium, but I can't remember why it happens, one of the more knowledgeable will be here soon!!!

It always puts me in mind of the vernix that babies are covered in in the womb...could be something similar???

Dont think its poo Rich unless its attaching its self to the egg whilst it passes internally through the cloaca ? its all over the egg but fades towards the pointy end

Is it a temperature or dehydration thing ?

Imbalance at some point in the fluids and all that malarkey ?

I watched a documentary  :study: one time about wild birds and that the markings on eggs are produced just before the egg is laid by a gland right near the vent and that it's possible for the mother to have run out of pigment to put on the egg ... perhaps they just aren't being coloured in like normal??

Typically these faults are caused by the egg remaining in the shell gland for an extended period. Often young flocks just coming into production are very susceptible to this defect. Any stresses or disturbances at the time when the egg is due to be laid will encourage the bird to retain the egg.

My nuggets (goldline)eggs are sort of pinky/blue coloured with that white haze over them! she has only been laying for about 3 weeks now!
