I've got about 150 garlic cloves in this year. i kind of went a bit mad I think.  ???

50 of them are for moon/non-moon trials, so will be dug up on the correct day - weighed and put back in the ground until late summer. i want to give all friends and family plaited garlics for Christmas pressies.

I'm growing my garlic in containers (not much space here!), but all the Purple Wight and Solent Wight I planted are up and doing well.

when you say "growing" or "come up" do you mean actual proper full shaped garlic...or a green stem coming out of the soil...cos mine (planted last Autumn) are the latter
but every bulb I planted now has a green stem   I've poked around the top of the soil to see whats underneath and all I can see is the bulb I planted
any thoughts anyone?

^ ditto to the above , but 100% on green stems  :)
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Thats what they should be doing. Clove formation will be later in the season.

My first attempt appears to be variety specific. Solent Wight, Early purple and elephant all growing well (even growing with snow on the ground) but no sign of the Red German

Ours too are all "sprouting" - looks like 100% - I think we planted about 50 or so.  Great success last year too, but they seemed to be on the small size!  Small but perfectly formed springs to mind ;)

My first year of having an allotment and garlic was the first thing that I planted. Of the 8 cloves I planted  7 now have shoots about 2-3 inches tall.  I planted my first lot when the the weather was frosty as I believe they need a cold spell to develop properly. Now the frosts have gone would it be ok to put the cloves from my second garlic bulb in the freezer for a week or so before planting out?
