Mixing up Flubenvet with pellets
« on: June 30, 2010, 22:42 »
Finally have 3 brown POL's (although one already laying)

Should I worm them straight away as I don't know when they were last done?

When I bought the Flubenvet, the man serving me didn't seem sure how well it would mix with pellets and thought I should maybe moisten them to make it stick.  However, I'm not sure about moistening them as I would be mixing up 7 days feed in advance.

Does it mix with pellets or do I need to get some mash for when I worm?

Thanks all.

Hi,
I always add a little olive oil to the pellets when I use flubenvet to help them stick but I mix it up everyday.  I guess if it was mixed for the week it may cause the pellets to deteriorate though.

Mixing water with the pellets to get the Flubenvet to stick will definitely make the feed deteriorate, but I'm not sure about the oil.

When I use Flubenvet I just mix it in a 20kg bag, because we have a lot of chickens!

Marriages do a pellet with Flubenvet already in them. I bought some this year as it's a darn sight easier to get the medicine to go down and no need to measure it out each day

I was told lately by the fella that sold me my hens a month ago that they wouldnt need worming again till next spring as they had already been wormed.

I decided to worm them again with flubenvet, mixing 1x 6g scoop of wormer to every 2kg of feed.  Medicated feed should be fed for 7 consecutive days.

I also had them back at the vets for a check up and got them sprayed with frontline.

I am just trying everything tbh as they were poorly last week but have picked up again  :)
