Bought Setton improved "Turbo" and Sturon, 500g each (when packed) 50p each.

Can't put them in until the weekend or Monday. They look rather dry. Is it useful or otherwise to damp them a bit to prevent them drying/get them starting?

I’d just leave them until you plant them or you risk them sprouting roots which could get damaged when you plant them.
