Title: Merry Tiller Spares
Post by: Glosterboy on December 06, 2009, 14:41
Hello. Anybody aware of where I can purchase Merry Tiller spares? I have just acquired a Merry Tiller Major. Unfortunately, no belt guard and depth gauge (skid). I appreciate that there is a Merry Tiller spares site details given on this site. But, is there an alternative Merry Tiller spares business? Thanks.

The only one that I know of is:

http://www.merrytiller.co.uk/spares1.htm

Is this the one you've tried?

Thanks Gwiz. Yes it is. I just thought that with the amount of Merry Tillers still being used. An alternative for spares is out there somewhere? The site mentioned might be my only option? Unless my required spares appear on Ebay? Thanks anyway.

you could get a skid made up in a local engineering firm, like wise a belt guard, although that would be much more expensive. I think I'd make a guard out of some wire mesh, or perhaps fibreglass, if it was mine. :)

Thanks again Gwiz. Yes, as a last result, I had thought of making both a belt guard and skid. At least I have two or three months (perhaps even longer if this wet weather continues!!!) to get it sorted out. Thanks again.

Just to say "Thanks" Gwiz. Took up your advice and made a guard out of mesh. Even though I say it myself "a good job it is too". Now the skid. This is a more difficult proposition!!!
