Well like the Subject says a dead hen my husband and I went to an auction on 11/08/2011 picked up 2 two year old french copper black marans in a mini mult.

Both well in themselves until the one was found in a heap in the run dead on 13/08/2011 and in a whole load of feathers they fell out along her back and under belly but she was dead.

The other is fine seems a bit out of sorts sad i guess but any clues to what would have caused her to up a die no blue comb no worms not under weight.

Unfortunately hens can, and do drop dead for seemingly no cause at all.  Unless you get a necropsy done, it is unlikely you will ever find out why she died.

In the mean time I would keep the other hen quarantined away from your other hens, and keep a close eye on your flock, just in case the cause of death was contagious.

they have been quarantined they stay that way for 2 weeks.
