Hey was wondering? Got a honeysuckle would i need a trellis to get it started growing on the wall or will it happily cling on without one?

honeysuckle needs to twine around something to climb, so you'll need a trellis, or use vine eyes and wires stretched across the wall for support

What are vine eyes?

A sort of nail that has an eye at the end (like in a needle) that you hammer into the wall, or you can use the sort that screw in like  this

Honeysuckle is in his new home. Off out now to get some vine eyes  !

And next spring prune the honeysuckle back a bit to encourage lots of vines. I didn't do this with my first one and for 3 years it didn't do a lot. Finally I gave it a good prune and the following spring it shot up in every direction.
