I found a few of these trees with these berries on, amongst some sloes and blackberries that I've been picking recently. I'm guessing they're not edible, but am curious!
Thanks

They look like service berries , no idea what they are good for apart from bird food.

Looks pretty much like Hawthorn. The fruits are certainly edible and can be made into a jelly.
The angle on the leaves is a bit tricky, but they look like hawthorn and the fruits look like Haws.
(I like to be cautious in case they're some deadly alternative that looks the same !
)

Googled it Rob and I thin you're spot on.
Thanks, I will search out some recipes now. I wonder if I can use in homebrew?

I'm certain you can. Be interested to know. I always feel guilty taking stuff from the birds.
Good luck with it and report back.

My first thought was hawthorn. Makes a bit of a bitter brew by all accounts, but can also be used for jellies and jams, I believe.

They look like hawthorn to me. River Cottage have a few recipes for them - more along the jelly/jam lines...

I agree - hawthorn.
Read somewhere that the young leaves are edible, though never been hungry or desperate enough to try that.
