think i tried this some time ago,and was wondering if anyone knew a recipe for it,not home brewed before so not sure what i will need apart from beets :?:

The C J Berry recipe we have is:-

3lb beetroot
3lb granulated suger
6 cloves
1 gallon water
1/2 oz bakers yeats
Juice of one lemon
small piece of ginger

Wash the beetroot well but do not peel, cut them up and boil them in some of the water until tender but not mushy.  Strain on to the sugar, lemon juice, spices and the rest of the water and stir until the sugar is desolved.  When the liqour is cool stir in the yeast then cover closely and leave in a warm place.

is C.J. Berry the feller whowrote the book in the seventies my Dad gave me his copy but I've lost it and need to buy another copy can you tell me the title and does anyone know if it's still in print.

                                 cj berry has a book out called first steps in winemaking,paid£5.95  for ours and you should be able to get it quite easily.
