Spent Hops uses

It takes some time to rot down. I put I straight into compost bins. It's usually wet when I get it. Smells lovely

Cannot get any other ingredients, it all goes for animal feed. I have an endless suppply of spent hops and will use for composting and mulching. But looking for other uses, can I mix with compost to grow next years potatoes in buckets?

Results of last years spent hops uses.
1. Potatoes in buckets, spent hops mix with compost(council & bought). Success.
2. Spent hops in bottom of tomato pots and pepper pots to save on compost. Success.
3. Spent hops in tubs with 2” of compost for onions. Success.
4. Spent hops in tubs with 2” of compost for carrots. Disaster, carrots stop growing when they touched hops.
5. Mixturevof hops and compost for tomatoes. Success.

Have not used as mulch except on tomatoes pots.
 Would spent hops as mulch deter slugs and snails?

Not sure why it should deter them, but I haven't seen any increase either.

Should have said kill, like beer traps.
